“I Moved On…”

Alas, the overwhelming ache in my chest numbed

The scent of your cologne that linger

In and about the corridors of my room fade

My focused gaze on you

blurs , making it difficult to imagine you.

Our memories disregard nostalgia

And then like the wind, swish off into the unknown

Like you did me.

You waited till I reached the brink of yearning

And then you left—

Unremorseful

Unapologetically.

Even so, I have cleared your side of the bed

And tucked your shoes under the bed

Away from the naked eye.

I tossed your spare keys to our home

As far as i could throw

And parceled your tapes and gifted them to some neighbours.

I no longer long for your firm embrace every night—I just turn the heater up and bury myself in the sheets.
